The Ladder of Escape series portraits musicians in search of outcome the boundaries of their instruments. Like escape artists, they pull at the chains by which they are shackled to that instrument. Reaching for borderlines, creating new boundaries in the realisation that these can never be obliterated, is what all good music is about. Every edition of Ladder of Escape illustrates new possibilities and the right to exist of one instrument. All players prove the power and unique quality of their instrument, while finding escapes from the dungeons to which they seem historically confined.
